"Jet Set Baby" by Leisure McCorkle for $2.64 on AmieStreet.com

Leisure McCorkle is an old friend from Charlotte N.C. He was always in cool bands growing up and music was a huge part of his life. I reconnected with Leisure McCorkle on Facebook recently and found out that he is still going strong with his musical career. He has a new album coming out soon but I encourage you to check him out now on the album "Jet Set Baby." A dedicated follower of the American underground music scene, singer/songwriter Leisure McCorkle brings a healthy knowledge of the classic alternative scene to his brand of energetic hard rock. Starting in the mid-90's, he recorded the lo fi Nappy Superstar on an 8-track in 1997. Put together with very little money, the recording still commanded a good response from music critics and helped his live shows develop some longtime fans. Following with American Ghetto Pop Machine, McCorkle expanded on his work with better writing and better production, even scoring a licensing deal with MTV that resulted in several songs being included in their reality shows. By 2002, Jet Set Baby became the hardest rocking album in his canon as he continued to explore the boundaries of poppy alternative rock with a full backing band.

It may surprise you to learn that there are other sites on the web that allow you to purchase and download MP3s besides giants like iTunes and AmazonMP3. Today I would like to take a few minutes to talk about a great music site called AmieStreet.com. Amie Street has a unique business model for selling music. Artists can upload music to the site, which can then be downloaded for free by users. As tracks become popular, Amie Street starts to charge for it and the band get's a cut of the profit. So if you are like me and you enjoy discovering new music, AmieStreet.com is a great way to download some good music for very little money. Don't get me wrong Amie Street also has some popular mainstream artist that like the site as well. You can pick up Vampire Weekend's self-titled album for $9.98 which I believe is the most you will pay for a full album on Amie Street. All downloads are in DRM-FREE MP3 format so they will work with any digital audio player like the iPod or Zune.
